Napa revisted

Posted on November 5, 2014 by Call me a food lover... • Leave a comment

This year, instead of hopping on a plane back home the day after ending my dragon boat season, I thought I’d take the opportunity to hang out with some friends, taking it easy in wine country to decompress after the hectic weekend I just had. Although I’d just been to Napa back in the Spring, … Continue reading →

Experiencing wine with a side of grease

My love for food is well documented in my posts, but perhaps lesser known is my curiosity in the drink. Food has always been a big part of my life, starting from when I was a child, good food has been the reason for being and although I knew my parents to drink occasionally, alcohol … Continue reading →

36 Hours (or so) of eating and drinking in Napa Valley ’14

A very early morning wake up + a 45 minute drive to Bellingham + a <2hr flight to OAK + a 1 hour drive north = eating before noon in Napa Valley in preparation for a weekend of wine tasting. It’s an equation I can really get behind and something that’s so easy to do, … Continue reading →

Food&Wine experience at Black Hills Winery

For years, I’ve been reading Black Hills Nota Bene wine. With a cult-like following, the wine sells out nearly immediately every year and when I do see it on wine lists in restaurants, it’s always out of my price range. I’ve twice driven past Black Hills Estate winery in the last 10 years, both times … Continue reading →

Exposing my palate to the South Okanagan

Some people dream of owning a sports team, I dream of owning a winery.  While some “people” claim that both are for the truly egomaniacal looking to throw their money away, I think that given the right conditions, (and the right crop insurance), that being the proprietor of a small boutique winery would be a … Continue reading →

INSTASTUFF

A very indulgent ME day with a DELUXE chirashi for lunch and 2 massages! 😊
@bomberbrewing Marzen is the best cure for the post-vacation blues.

I woke up early to watch the sun rising from behind the blossom-lined canal. This quiet morning in an area normally teeming with people was the most beautiful way to end my whirlwind trip through Japan. I can’t believe that I arrived to buds and am leaving with falling petals. Sakura season happened quickly this year. I’m grateful to have witnessed the full cycle. 🌸
Exactly how I wanted to start my last night in Japan. Drinks, at one of the World’s Top 50, custom-made to my moment of desire followed by plates and plates of fresh seafood.
Lunch with Dad eating okonomiyaki at my favorite place. One of my Osaka musts! Try as I might at home, I just can’t get it taste this good.
