LA (2017) = My Happy Place…

The first Wednesday in November always marks the start of my annual extra long weekender in LA. It’s my time to relax, recharge, eat and imbibe. Just coming off 3 weeks in South East Asia, this trip felt like it came quickly, and with little preparation. But my LA restaurant list is deep so I … Continue reading →

36 Hours (or so) of eating and drinking in Napa Valley ’14

A very early morning wake up + a 45 minute drive to Bellingham + a <2hr flight to OAK + a 1 hour drive north = eating before noon in Napa Valley in preparation for a weekend of wine tasting. It’s an equation I can really get behind and something that’s so easy to do, … Continue reading →

I realized that I have so many posts pending, that I’m constantly feel overwhelmed and behind. Rather than trying to post in chronological order, I have decided to post on what I’m inspired to write about in the moment. So even though I was in LA a few weeks ago and have a mountain of … Continue reading →

It seems like so much of what’s amazing in the food and drink scene in New York is happening in Brooklyn. I could have made up a list of Brooklyn-only spots for the weekend but knew that on this trip, we’d spend a day there max, so I picked out a few key things that … Continue reading →

My week of deliciousness

I have neglected the blog lately. It’s not that I haven’t been eating fabulously, it’s just that in the frenzy of my regular life, I haven’t had time to post. But the longer it goes between posts, the harder it is for me to get something up. And seeing as I’m in the home stretch before … Continue reading →

Girls Weekender in NYC

As I write this post, I am watching Hurricane Sandy wreaking havoc on New York in the background. So many of the images I see on tv are of the same sights I visited 2 weeks ago. It feels very surreal… The amount of holidays I take  is a common joke amongst my friends. But … Continue reading →

36 hours (or so) of eating and walking in DC

I returned from San Francisco on Monday evening and only had time to do laundry and pack again.  It was a short turn-around time, but we have a tight schedule with 3 baseball games and over 10 states to drive through in the next 12 days. Tuesday 7:00am – YVR – DEN – IAD 5:30pm … Continue reading →

INSTASTUFF

A very indulgent ME day with a DELUXE chirashi for lunch and 2 massages! 😊
@bomberbrewing Marzen is the best cure for the post-vacation blues.

I woke up early to watch the sun rising from behind the blossom-lined canal. This quiet morning in an area normally teeming with people was the most beautiful way to end my whirlwind trip through Japan. I can’t believe that I arrived to buds and am leaving with falling petals. Sakura season happened quickly this year. I’m grateful to have witnessed the full cycle. 🌸
Exactly how I wanted to start my last night in Japan. Drinks, at one of the World’s Top 50, custom-made to my moment of desire followed by plates and plates of fresh seafood.
Lunch with Dad eating okonomiyaki at my favorite place. One of my Osaka musts! Try as I might at home, I just can’t get it taste this good.
